The Toyota Good for Footy raffle is back for another year and it has come at a pivotal time for community clubs.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, clubs have been hit hard financially and the raffle is a chance to show your support with no sport being played.
A number of clubs across the Goulburn Valley are taking part in this year’s national raffle.
And with each $5 ticket you buy 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to your club of choice.
More than $150 000 worth of prizes are up for grabs, including new Toyotas, and last year a club raised $17 000.
This year there are four Goulburn Valley League clubs participating, seven from Kyabram District League, four from Picola District league and one from Murray Football League.
The Southern Riverina News spoke to Deniliquin Rams president Clint Free, who said he was appreciative of the support from Toyota and was encouraging the community to take part.
‘‘Obviously our town have a local Toyota dealer who is a long-term generous sponsor of the Deni Rams,’’ Free said.
‘‘We appreciate Toyota Australia supporting grassroots footy. It will go towards our current renovations and running of our club.
‘‘I hope everyone can support local footy and our hard-working volunteers while having a chance of winning a brand new car.’’
Free was unable to provide an estimated loss for the club, but did say ‘‘revenue will be down’’.
This year's Good for Footy raffle will be drawn at noon on August 20 at Good2Give in Sydney.
The holder of the winning ticket does not need to be present and can be notified by telephone and email.
