Six swimmers from the Barooga S.W.I.M. Squad from Cobram-Barooga Swimming Club represented the Goulburn Valley at the Country Junior District Competition at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center (MSAC) on Saturday, November 9.
Fletcher Davies collected first place in the eight-year-old 50 m freestyle with a time of 40.15 seconds, while Emily Davies recorded personal best times in the 50 m categories in the 10-year-old discipline to finish fifth out of 33 swimmers in the 50 m breaststroke.
Alex Hawke had two top 10 finishes in the 50 m backstroke freestyle events, while Kade Pyle scythed his way to a 12-second personal best in the 100 m backstroke, as well as finishing fifth in the 200 m freestyle relay.
Reegan Hawke carved two bests in the 50 m backstroke and 50 m freestyle and placed sixth in the 200 m medley relay, while Chloe Herezo improved from 30th to 17th place in the 50 m freestyle with a time of 34.83.
More recently, Shepparton hosted its annual Aqua Carnivale on Saturday where some of the Moira Shire’s star swimmers took to the pool to do battle with the regions finest.
Jackson Bury blew most of his opposition out of the water, swimming personal best times in all six events to win silver in the 12-13-year-old 50 m backstroke and 50 m breaststroke events.
Emily Davies swam bests in two of her events 10 and 11-year-old 50 m freestyle and 100 m breaststroke events, while Fletcher Davies won gold in the nine-and-under 50 m backstroke and freestyle races.
Emma Nolan had a big program with first ever swims in the 400 m freestyle and 100 m fly and a massive 14.53-second performance in the 14-and-over 200 m individual medley to take home bronze.
Elsewhere, Dakota Pyle swam bests in all five events and anchored the 8 x 50 m open mixed freestyle relay with an amazing final leg.
Alex Hawke won bronze in the nine and under 50 m backstroke and 50 m breaststroke events, while Logan White broke the 40 sec barrier in the 10-11-year old 50 m backstroke to win silver and won gold in the 50 m freestyle with a time of 32.59 seconds.
