Hamilton had a sound start to the event on September 14 and 15, finishing fourth in qualifying and he pushed on with back-to-back second place finishes in the opening two races.
Conditions were tougher on the Sunday with rain falling for race three, however, Hamilton overcame that to win the race, but suffered a time penalty seeing him drop to sixth.
Hamilton finished fifth in the final race of the event seeing him finish third overall.
“The weekend was a tough one,” Hamilton said.
“I was battling a cold and I went the wrong way with set up in qualifying, but I made big improvements on the car for races one and two.
“Sunday was tricky with race three being in the rain.
“My car was brilliant in the wet and I soon took the lead and won the race, only for me to receive a time penalty after the race for passing a car under yellow flags which I didn’t see - that demoted me to sixth
“Race four had had returned to a dry track and again the car felt good but I was battling a really long brake pedal, which didn’t give me much confidence to pass cars with and I finished fifth.
“I came third overall, which is okay in some ways. It could have been better but I’m still have to have the car in one piece and finish every race.”
Hamilton held an overall series position of third by the end of the event, however, a penalty for making contact with another car saw him drop to fourth.
Hamilton still has an outside chance of winning the series at the final event of the series at Winton on October 19 and 20.
Hamilton thanked his sponsors, including Intune Automotive, Vurgel Precision Automotive, Cobram Bolt Supply, Betta Home Living Cobram, Artavilla’s Emporium, Future Fitness 24/7, Harris Panel Beating and BR & JK.
