The under-12s were the first side to get their hands on silverware with the minor premiers beating Wodonga Heart 3-1.
The match was goalless at the break before an eventful second half that saw Sam Hurlston open the scoring from the penalty spot before goals from Mikael Artavilla-Bennett and another penalty, this time scored by player of the match Reuben Haley. Heart’s only goal of the game came through Israel Monga.
The grand final success was icing on the cake for the side that picked up 63 of a possible 66 points this season.
There is still more soccer to be played for the under-12s this year with Manny Artavilla’s side in the finals series of the Macca’s City Cup which will be played at the Melbourne City Football Academy on October 1.
The under-13s was another close affair with Cobram overcoming Myrtleford Savoy 2-1.
The score was locked at 1-1 at half-time with Jake Kalz netting for Roar and Tomas Lewis for Savoy.
Logan Stone would prove to be the match winner for Cobram, scoring the only goal in the second half while Luke Goodin was named player of the match.
The win is a title defence of sorts with the side winning the competition at under-12s in 2018.
It caps of an incredible season for Christopher Gash’s side, which has managed a perfect 25 wins from 25 matches.
While it was a special day for both sides, it was even more memorable for Sonny Rowe, Deacon Forster and Sam Hurlston with the trio turning out in both matches.
