Reigning premier Deniliquin Rovers will take on this season's top-ranked side Tocumwal for a spot in the preliminary finals, with the loser to cash in its double-chance and take on Strathmerton in a tricky semi-final next weekend.
The stakes could not be much higher, but both will enter full of confidence; the Rovers not only won last year's decider, but also had a round six win against Tocumwal by four goals, while the Bloods have won a cool 10 straight games to hit finals in impeccable form.
It makes for a tantalising fixture Bloods coach Kylie Hicks could hardly wait for.
"The girls are doing really well, although the week off waiting was a bit nerve-racking. We've worked hard in training and are prepared to fight it out," she said.
"The double chance is a great back-up, but if we don't have to use it that would be even better.
"We're really excited to be coming up against Deni and it should be an interesting game, so we need everyone to come round to the game and support Toc."
The Rovers took a 41-37 win in round six and have also been finding top gear, having won six of their past seven games with the only loss to third-ranked Katunga.
Hicks said her squad had discussed last year's grand final loss, but was more concerned with shutting down this year's dangerous version of the Rovers.
"Deni had quite a fast attacking end, so we've concentrated our efforts on strengthening our defensive end to take that on," she said.
"Hopefully we can step up and take the challenge to them.
"Our girls have come together really well, the new girls in it just took a little while to jell. We really support each other and work well together, training has been great with great numbers and we've continued to work on our set-ups."
The weekend's other game will be another cracker, with Katamatite and Katunga to clash in a contest that is expected to be tight.
The Tigers won by eight goals when the sides met in round four, but the Swans turned the tables just two games back, winning 50-45 to send a statement to their rivals.
There has been little to separate the sides all season with just four per cent between them and, while one will be through to the preliminary finals, the loser will have to win its way through with a clash against Picola United next weekend.
