Amanda Herezo, Rick Gill, Paul Grinter, Shari Mawson-Gannon, Vicki Stevenson, Dave Smith (DELWP) are on the committee and Equestrian Victoria has also been invited to nominate.
Victorian Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy was elated at the news of the announcement and said it was a step in the right direction with the community’s best interests in mind.
“I am delighted at the new recreation reserve committee full of fresh faces, it is a skill-based team put together so that the reserve gets used for its best purposes,” he said.
“That is what we have been looking for all along.”
DELWP land and build environment regional manager Gini Harris announced the seven new members following an expression of interest process through August and September and has full confidence the revamped panel would deliver.
“The newly-appointed members bring diverse experiences and knowledge to the role and we are confident the committee is well-placed to protect and enhance the value of the Muckatah Recreation Reserve,” she said.
“We have appointed members with a wide variety of skills and experience to ensure the committee is diverse and equipped and to represent the local community.”
After previous issues about the safety of the reserve, Ms Harris said the committee’s purpose would be to invest in to maintaining the area with the community in mind.
“We will continue to work closely with the new committee to ensure the reserve is managed with the best interests of the community,” she said.
“Along with governance training, we will assist the committee to develop a management plan for the reserve to provide greater and safer use by the community and it will present an opportunity for community input on the future management of the area.”
