Same great food delivered differently

Quality food at the same great price.

That’s the promise from the Royal Hotel Seymour as it makes the switch to takeaway only.

The pub was forced to shut its doors amid COVID-19 restrictions, but owners Paul Lowe and Lee Bushell-Lowe are committed to providing the quality food the community expects.

“There is a bit of concern that we would be raising prices to make up for the loss of business,” Leigh said.

“But that is not the case. The prices are the same and people’s food will not just be stuffed into a takeaway container.

“While takeaway will never be the same as sitting in the bistro with a cold beer, we are going to make it as close as we possibly can.”

Leigh said she and Paul were devastated to have to break up the Royal Hotel family by letting go of its 20 staff.

“It’s not a decision we made lightly and it’s one we wish we didn’t have to make,” she said.

“But the situation we’re going through meant we couldn’t keep people employed and keep the doors open.

“We’re supporting those who have lost their job as best we can. We know it’s a tough time and hopefully we can welcome them back when things return to normal.”

Takeaway meals are available from 5 pm to 9 pm Monday to Friday (last orders at 8.30 pm) and noon to 8 pm Saturday and Sunday.

There are two ways to order takeaways - over the phone (card payment required) or in person at the hotel (cash and card accepted).

“We started with the takeaway on Thursday night and had a good response. Nothing like being open but we are pleased people are still supporting us,” Leigh said.

“Delivery is an option we will look at depending how things go. But our main priority is to keep ourselves and customers safe.

“This is a stressful time for everyone, but we will all come out of it if we stick together and look after one another.”
