Stadium Stomp, which started on Sunday, is challenging Rochester residents to climb 25,000 stairs in July.
The figure of 25,000 is the combined total of all the courses across the country including the MCG (7300 stairs) and Adelaide Oval (6700).
“We thought that was a challenging number and so created Stadium Stomp Virtual and dared people to try and stair climb (virtually) all of our stadiums in one month,” Stadium Stomp co-founder Susie King said.
“COVID-19 has meant we can’t go to our stadiums right now so we thought we’d bring the stadiums to the people. The added bonus is that those who live geographically far from the stadiums we normally hold our events in, can now participate. We’ve got people from all over the world taking on this challenge now.”
The challenge is free to enter, and Stadium Stomp will accept lunges, squats and step-ups as stairs.
Participants may also choose to make every stair count by fundraising for any of the event’s charity partners, Black Dog Institute, Emergency Services Foundation and Leukaemia Foundation.
Each participant will be given a login dashboard where they can enter their stairs climbed each time to keep track and measure their progress.
Also included as part of the free registration are training tips, an exclusive closed Facebook group, access to Stadium Stomp Spotify playlists and more!
