Emergency services were called to the Kialla property — a G.J. Gardner Homes display home — on Sunday, November 9, with reports an eight-year-old boy had been found unresponsive in a swimming pool.
Medical assistance was administered at the scene; however, the boy died.
A spokesperson for G.J. Gardner Homes said the company was devastated to learn of the “tragic accidental drowning” at one of its display homes.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the young boy, and our thoughts remain with them as they navigate this heartbreaking time,” the spokesperson said.
“Fencing was in place around the pool, and it was in compliance with all pool safety regulations.
“We will continue to do everything within our power to support the authorities with their investigation.”
The spokesperson said the company was also providing support to the Shepparton team, who have been left distressed by the tragedy.
