A mass of people and cars descended on the showgrounds for the 14th annual Cobram Swap Meet and Show ‘n’ Shine on Sunday, August 14.

It’s a major event for Cobram Rotary Club, which pulled in multiple other service clubs and schools to keep the day running smoothly for 2500 attendees.
Two hundred and eighty Swap Meet sites were occupied and while most were from Victoria, it also attracted those from as far as Sydney.
The Show ‘n’ Shine also proved a big hit, boasting cars from hot rods to modern vehicles and vintage cars from as far back as the 1900s.
Cobram Rotary president John Crawford said the event was “the best we’ve ever had”.
“I think it’s probably something to do with people coming out of lockdown, people want to get out and do things,” he said.
“It was a huge success. We had 20mm of rain the day before that made it wet underfoot and that didn’t stop anyone from coming.”
While the event is primarily run by the Rotary club, other service clubs and schools are necessary to pitch in and help out.
“It’s too big for one service club to run ... the whole town gets behind it,” Mr Crawford said, adding the whole town could come along for entertainment and also benefit from it.
“It does lots. The town was just so busy with cars everywhere, all the local shops would’ve benefited from the extra crowd to Cobram."
But now the event’s over and everything’s packed up for next time, Cobram Rotary is very thankful to the supporters, siteholders and attendees.
“The Rotary club are very thankful for all the service clubs and support that helped us and made it the success that it was, and thanks to all the people who had their sites,” Mr Crawford said.
“Especially to the people who came along and just helped.”
