GOTAFE staff conducted guided tours through the campus so visitors could view the state-of the-art nursing training rooms, the early childhood education and care space and the modern educational equipment. Student advisors were also on hand to provide advice on course offerings and studying at GOTAFE.
Rushworth musician Ryan Gay provided tunes and kids enjoyed a reptile petting zoo, giant games and colouring in.
Warm toasties and free coffee were on offer as well as information stalls from local service providers including Family Care, The Centre, Bendigo Bank, Primary Care Connect, SES, Victorian Police Youth Liaison and Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing program Goranwarrabul House.
“It was fantastic to see so many people visiting our new facilities and talking to our team about studying with us,” GOTAFE chief executive officer Travis Heeney said.
“GOTAFE aims to be more than an education facility. We want to make positive contributions to the local community, so it was important that we opened the new campus to enable people to see first-hand the fantastic facility we now have in Seymour.”
The $5.9 million modern training facility was officially opened in March by State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes.
The Seymour campus redevelopment provides students with fit for purpose teaching facilities to enhance VET pathway opportunities and free TAFE in priority study areas such as nursing and early childhood education.
