This season, YYC invites locals and visitors alike to discover the joy of sailing, dragon boat paddling, radio-controlled (RC) sailing and kayaking.
Whether you're a seasoned sailor or someone who's never set foot in a boat, the club offers a welcoming, social environment to learn, connect, and thrive.
Commodore Ken Cameron said new members were always welcome at the club to engage with a range of water sports and meet new friends.
Junior sailing lessons start on Saturday, October 18 with six sessions before Christmas and six after the new year.
Dragon boat paddling sessions are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings with outrigger paddling on Wednesdays.
Kayaking is also available and for those who prefer to stay dry and on land, radio-controlled sailing is held each Wednesday and Saturday.
Commodore Cameron said Yarrawonga Yacht Club wasn’t just about sport, but about community.
With opportunities to train as crew or assist as support officials, the club empowers locals to get involved in ways that suit your skills and schedules.
“With laughter echoing from the dragon boats and positive and encouraging guidance always available for learning new skills, it’s clear that fun is just as important as form,” he said.
“In a time when digital distractions often pull us away from nature and each other, the Yarrawonga Yacht Club offers something refreshingly real: connection, camaraderie, and the thrill of wind on water.”
So why not spring off the couch and make your way to the Yarrawonga Yacht Club foreshore for some lake time at the end of River Rd, and see what is waiting for you.
Your next adventure might just begin with a sail, a paddle or a remote control session.
Happy Hours on the lawn is back each Friday evening from Friday, October 10 until the end of February 2026 for locals and visitors, with no membership required.
The open-air venue, from 5pm – 8pm offers amazing sunsets and perfect golden hours over Lake Mulwala with free live music, fabulous food and bevvies.
It is simply the best way to start your weekend with friends, family, and even your furry friends are welcome.
