Cobram District Health Ladies’ Auxiliary has purchased a new electrocardiogram (ECG) machine for the hospital.

The $15 000 machine, which measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat, has wifi-connectivity and can compare two images at once.
Cobram District Health clinical services director Carolyn Hargreaves said the machine could easily send readings to specialists at other hospitals in the region, or to Melbourne, which was not possible before.
“We now have the ability to send the photos offsite, which is a great component,” she said.
She said Cobram District Health was one of the busiest rural urgent care centres, experiencing about 5000 presentations a year, and the ECG was integral to this service.
Auxiliary president Mary Powell said the group raised the money across the entire year through a series of fundraisers and chose to buy the machine from a ‘wish list’ provided by the hospital.
She said she was glad the work of the auxiliary to help support medical facilities supported the entire community.
“It doesn’t matter who you are - it serves the whole community,” she said.
