Lining the shore of Cobram’s Thompsons Beach clad in their trademark yellow riding vests, the Wild Hogs in Lycra presented a $2000 cheque to Ottrey Lodge’s Tracy Gemmill on Wednesday.
The donation was raised by the group’s monster ride from Keith to Cobram in October, where the peloton endured arduous conditions throughout a 13-day journey in support of the aged care facility.
It was the Wild Hogs’ second go at the ride and, although the hills seemed bigger this time around, being able to give back to a worthy cause was all that mattered, according to rider Gifford Crosthwaite.
“Ottrey Lodge are doing a huge upgrade at the moment and to be able to contribute feels really terrific,” Mr Crosthwaite said.
“We have all had parents in these sorts of facilities, and they need all the support they can get.”
With a new building currently under construction, the donation is a welcomed cash injection for Ottrey Lodge.
“We are extremely grateful and thankful to receive the donation from the Wild Hogs in Lycra, it means so much to everyone here,” Ottrey Lodge's Shelli Kernaghan said.
“The money will be put towards helping fund the purchasing of palliative care equipment to be used in our new building.”
