Candy and Kym and their son Ethan arrived in Finley days before the competition to make it a holiday.
On their first day back in the region, they took time out to cool down at the Finley Pool on New Year's Day.
It was much needed relief after spending much of New Year's Eve in the car travelling from their home in Lewiston, about 750km away.
It was also a great way to relax before all three members of the family took to the rodeo arena on Friday night.
“Candy entered in the barrel race while I was in the team roping event, with our son Ethan competing in junior barrel racing,” Kym said.
“We really enjoy coming to Finley, we've been coming here for a couple of years now and just love it.
“It's a good spot here at the pool and we always go for a feed at the RS Club.
“The camping grounds we stay at are good, and right next to the pool where we can relax.”
The Michaelis family left on Saturday to continue on the Australian Pro Rodeo Association circuit.
