Friday, December 3, will see the return of local artists who will be decorating shop windows throughout the Rose City.
As always the purpose of Window to Window, which is organised by the Benalla Business Network (BBN), is to encourage people to shop local at Christmas.
Organiser Blake Smith said the committee was pleased to welcome back some well-known artists, while giving an opportunity to some who have never had work displayed publicly.
"With the lack of events across the past two years we though it was important to go ahead,“ Mr Smith said.
"We were relieved last year when we were able to hold Window to Window, which slotted in between the lockdowns.
"We will potentially be a little bit smaller this year, but we though it was important to have the event for not only for Benalla residents but for tourists who may be coming through town as well.
“We have Tim Bowtell returning to paint the council window again. He’s been a part of every Window to Window.
'In fact a lot of the artists are returning artists. We also have Mal Webster, who many in town will know, coming to paint again.“
Mr Smith said the committee had abandoned the concept of asking each artist to embed a Christmas theme somewhere in their work.
“A lot of these artists have not had an opportunity to do public works for the past two years, so we wanted to give them full creative freedom,” he said.
“But the aim is firstly to have an event, but also to give a platform to local artists to show their talent.
“And we are also looking to build towards a bigger event next year, which might evolve into some permanent works around town.
“This is a COVID-safe event, and we ask the public to respect social distancing and please wear a mask if you are interacting with the artists.
“Please also respect the rules and requirements of the individual businesses taking part.
“The event is free for local businesses to take part. So if you would like to have your window painted you can call me.
“And if you are an artist who would like to take part you can also get in touch.”
If you are interested, phone Mr Smith on 0408 394 933.
The majority of artists will be painting during business hours on Friday, however, some will continue painting during the weekend.
BBN has also arranged a service for businesses to have the art removed after the event, if they wish to.
