Storytime in the Park at Tatura

By Madeleine Caccianiga

The sunshine brought out the crowds in Tatura last week for Storytime in the Park with Goulburn Valley Libraries’ ‘House and Home’ themed activity.

Learning about houses in a fun way, children aged four and under enjoyed listing to stories read by children and youth librarian Emma Kennedy.

‘‘We had a great turn out, which was fantastic and a nice surprise,’’ Ms Kennedy said.

Children spent the morning building bird houses out of paper before painting and decorating them to take home.

Ms Kennedy said the children discussed different kinds and sizes of houses.

‘‘We discussed what we could make a home out of, starting off with pipe-cleaners and sticky tape, which the kids decided wouldn’t be very strong,’’ she said.

Children engaged in singing and dancing while experiencing the great outdoors at Mactier Gardens.

‘‘We encourage children to read in all environments, to get outside and be social and a lot of them brought snacks to enjoy for a picnic in the park,’’ Ms Kennedy said.
