Not the result Strathmerton was hoping for last week in its Picola and District Netball League match, but is was a very tough contest.
It was really good to have a couple of young under-17s in Molly Coburn and Alyssa Crestani in the starting seven.
This allowed for plenty of versatility throughout the game but the girls just could not settle early on and get into a rhythm.
The defenders worked tirelessly getting hands to ball, but unfortunately there were some vital opportunities missed down in attack.
The girls have a week off now to regroup and come out firing again in two week’s time.
Final score: Strathmerton 38 lost to Katunga 44
Awards: Vanessa Ward (Strathy Pub).
B-grade

C-grade
The second game for the girls was not quite what they were hoping for.
The opposition was tough and made it hard to pick up mistakes.
But the girls held their heads high and continued on with the game.

C-reserve
As the first game of the season for the C-reserve side, the girls did a fantastic job of working together to produce a great game.
Although the score did not go Strathy’s way, the efforts of the players was undeniable as they started the game with a great first quarter, having only a goal difference.
As the game continued, the score grew further apart, but the determination for every girl was noticed.
Well done on a great first game girls, cannot wait to see how the rest of the season goes.

What a turn around from round one. The girls came out firing from the get go and did not back down.
All that hard work at training has started paying off.
The defensive pressure was strong across the court which helped create a number of turnovers and gave Strathy the chance to score.
There were many positional changes but all girls adapted quickly and played their role perfectly. Very proud of the four-quarter display from all girls.
