After merging the men’s and women’s clubs, Strathmerton Golf Club is looking to launch its midweek and weekend competitions beforeEaster.
Club president Michael Cleary said the amalgamation meant more resources and a stronger club, with the nine-hole course starting next month.
The course will be open until September with holes ranging from par three to par five with sandscrape greens.
There are two weekly competitions — a mid-week competition on Thursdays from 9am and the weekend competition on Sundays from 10am — and both have weekly prizes and annual trophies on offer.
The club’s opening day for the weekend competition is Sunday, April 7, which organisers said would be a fun day with a nine-hole two-person ambrose.
A barbecue lunch will follow play and club sponsors are invited to join in the day.
The mid-week competition starts on Thursday, April 11, also with a two-person ambrose competition with lunch to follow.
All players are welcome to both events and potential members are invited to join.
