The Tennis Victoria Country Week held in Shepparton came to a close last Friday.

Players came from as far away as the United Kingdom and around Australia to take part.

Some interesting figures from the event: 1237 players took part; 2304 Dunlop tennis balls were used; and 864 lines were marked using 160litres of line marker.

With no shortage of keen players from across the Goulburn Valley and surrounds, Cobram players also featured and performed well.

Cobram GJ’s played in Ladies C5 and while the results on the court didn’t go their way, all reports confirmed they were winners in the social scene off the court.

Cobram Mojitos played in Ladies C2, finishing on top after the four days of round-robin matches. They managed to get over the line in an extremely tight semi-final but found the going very tough in the final on Friday morning against a well drilled Traralgon outfit.

Cobram Tennis Club president Matthew Ross-Soden of the Cobram Tigers team said it was great that Cobram players were able to support the event, and ‘‘we are definitely looking forward to the next one’’.

Cobram Tigers played in men’s C1 and finished on top after the round-robin matches. They won through to the final after some great tennis in the semi-final, and the lads played well Friday morning in the final to put real pressure on their opponents and came away with a fantastic victory.
