The Swedish horsewoman completed back-to-back wins as a driver in the $35000 Jim Phillips Memorial Cobram Cup and reined home three other winners on the eight-race card in a memorable day in the sulky.
Frenning won the cup on the favourite Buster Brady, whom she also trains, in track and race record time of 1.55.6 over the gruelling 2678m trip.
Last year Frenning drove the David Aiken-trained Im The Boss to victory in Cobram in one of his many cup wins for 2018.
From a second row draw, Frenning was able to weave Buster Brady through the field in the first 200m and take over the front running for the remainder of the marathon.
Although she admitted having concerns with Buster Brady pulling hard during the run, the six-year-old son of Real Desire was able to comfortably hold all rivals at bay in a relentless and courageous staying performance.
The Kyabram-trained Brallos Pass battled on gamely for second, 7m from the winner, while the NSW visitor Conviction finished third for trainer driver Steve Turnbull, a further 1.2m astern.
The eye-catching run in the race was turned in by the Laura Crossland-trained Share The Road, which galloped after the start but recovered to finish fourth and get within 11m of the winner.
Frenning ruled out lining-up Buster Brady in Saturday night’s Shepparton Gold Cup and now has her eye on the Ballarat Cup on Saturday week with her star pacer.
‘‘I wasn’t keen to back him up with only a six days break. He would have drawn the outside of the second row under the conditions at Shepparton so Ballarat was the better option,’’ Frenning said.
Frenning’s unforgettable day at the meeting started in the third race when she guided the David Aiken-trained Lunar Delight to victory.
Then followed another win on another of the Aiken team (Higherthananeagle) immediately before Buster Brady’s cup win.
Then for good measure Frenning completed the meeting with a hat-trick and four winners when she won on the NSW-trained pacer Harrys Delight.
Rising star Destinee Jenilou out-toughed a field of talented rivals to win the other feature, the $25000 Central Murray Credit Union Cobram Trotters Cup.
Award-winning Cobram Harness Racing Club secretary Bob Watson described the meeting as a great day.
‘‘As a club we very happy, particularly with the number of families that attended. It was a great day,’’ he said.
‘‘The off-track entertainment for the kids proved particularly popular.’’
