Winners were the combination of Jenny Brooks and Willie Nelson with +8. Runners-up had to be decided on ends won when Ruth Burnett, Bill Hoog, Archie Ellis and Geoff Brentnall all had +5.
Burnett and Hoog were runners-up with 12 ends won, one more than Ellis and Brentnall.
The best first game went to John Crump and Cheryl Merrett with +15 and the best second game went to Faye Neal and Jeff Nisbett also with +15.
The jackpot did not go off and with last week’s fines and the sale of some flowers, it is now worth in excess of $200 (the exact amount I forgot to count) so come on down this Friday to have a go at this money pot.
Women’s social day was again played last Monday with 18 attending when they played triples.
Thursday was men’s trade day at Picola, but again no winners advised to this correspondent.
On Saturday, 44 bowlers travelled to Corowa for a club practice match.
Played in ideal conditions on very well-prepared greens and against a very hospitable club.
Barooga was the ultimate winner of the shield for another year.
Next year it will be our turn to host and let’s hope we can again muster a strong field and a lovely lunch for our guests.
On September 19, we have our mid-week teams going to Yarrawonga to play a practice match and on Saturday, we have our pennant teams travelling to East Shepparton for a game.
We have been asked to be in Shepparton on Saturday around 12.15pm for light snacks with a game to start at 1pm, followed by a barbecue.
We ask all bowlers to be at the club here in Barooga around 11am for an 11.15am departure.
Teams will be selected on Monday and advised on the Team App, as well as being on the notice board at the club.
