Mitchell Shire Council’s new website will help thousands of people each week to find what they need and learn more about their community.
With a simple writing style, clearer navigation, modern design and advanced search function, the platform has been designed with mobile users in mind and paves the way for the introduction of more online services during the next few years.
More than 165000 people visited the website last year — an increase of 13 per cent compared to the previous 12 months. More than three-quarters of people were new visitors to the site and more than 55 per cent used mobile or tablet devices.
‘‘The new site is quite different from the old site and is based on many leading council and government websites from across Australia,’’ Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said.

‘‘People were mostly coming to the old website to search for jobs, to find out operating times for different council services and to learn more about building and planning services.
‘‘We want it to be so much more than that. We plan to bring many more services and tools online in the future.’’
