Fraud trial to run in 2020

The trial of Victorian Nationals MP Tim McCurdy will not be held until next year because his lawyer is unavailable this year, a court has been told.

The Victorian Member for Ovens Valley and former real estate agent maintains his innocence after being accused of allegedly wrongly collecting $269000 in real estate commissions when he sold two dairy farms in 2009.

Mr McCurdy’s case came before the Melbourne County Court on Wednesday for a directions hearing, when his defence lawyer Ian Hill QC asked to postpone the trial to May next year.
