The romanticism of the open road, the feeling of the air rushing over your body, the sensation of sweeping bends with your knee down — and let’s not forget being able to wear tight-fitting leather in broad daylight and not being judged.
Whether your interest is an old postie’s step-through, a Vincent Black Shadow or the latest Harley Davidson sportster, all roads will lead to Mulwala Waterski Club foreshore on February 24 as the Motorbike Muster Show and Shine for 2019 takes place.
Presented by Boosey Creek Club Inc. and first starting in 2014, this event is not just for seasoned motorcycle fans but offers a great day out for those who might not ride but still appreciate two-wheeled and in some cases three-wheeled works of art.
With a wonderful display of vintage through to modern motorcycles on show, there will be something to tempt the two-wheel dreamer in everyone. Paint and chrome will be everywhere and will add some extra sparkle to the foreshore location.
Exhibitors can start registering their bikes from 8am on the day and gates will open to the public from 9.30am until 2pm.
Among the sponsors involved in the event are Phil’s Garage, Konigs Shepparton, Stuart Simmons Motorcycles, Lake Mulwala Hotel, and Boosey Creek Club Inc., with host Mulwala Waterski Club also presenting trophies in addition to the prize vouchers from sponsors.
Those bringing their bikes to enter the competition are in the running to win some great prizes.
Some of the featured categories include best British, best European, best Japanese, and best womens entry.
With 118 entries last year, the organising committee’s Barry Bennett said another great day was on the cards.
‘‘We had a 118 in the show-and-shine and another 45 to 50 in the car park (last year); we are expecting a pretty good showing this year.
‘‘We keep a record of the visitors’ post codes to see where they are from, and last year we had 41 bikes from the Yarrawonga-Mulwala area alone.
‘‘It is a great opportunity for the general public to meet motorcycle riders and see that they are not a menace, they are in fact your mum, your accountant, dare I say there would even be a few priests out there on two wheels,’’ Mr Bennett said.
‘‘For the riders themselves it’s a great chance to catch up and socialise.’’
Entry on the day is $2 each for members of the public and exhibitors, and $2 for motorcycle entry. There is no charge for children aged six years and under.
So if you want to ‘‘get your motor running’’, cruise on down to Mulwala Waterski Club on February 24; you’ll be glad you did.
