Make vote count and support projects

By Cobram Courier

With just a week to go before voting for Pick My Project closes, Cobram district residents are being encouraged to make their votes count.

Projects around the district that benefit the community have been shortlisted and are all up for voting until September 17.

The Cobram area has four projects to choose from, with residents able to shortlist their top three choices before the voting closes. Projects in the region include:

●a multi-purpose track around the Strathmerton Recreation Reserve;

●constructing rescue facilities for koala conservation at KoonaWonga Wildlife Rescue;

●improving Apex Reserve; and

●a ‘pop-up’ games set to encourage Moira residents to get active.

Through the Pick My Project Fund, the Victorian Government allocated $30million which has been divided between the six metropolitan and nine regional partnership areas.

Project ideas with the most votes in each area will be invited to enter into a funding agreement for their project.

Between $20000 and $200000 is available for each project selected.

If you are struggling to vote or do not have access to a computer, your local neighbourhood house or the Cobram Library can help.

All Victorians aged 16 and over are eligible to vote for their favourite projects within 50km of their home.

●Voting for Pick My Project closes at 5pm on Wednesday, September 17.
