Men show they’re at home in kitchen

By Michael Mattingly

ON THURSDAY, December 13, 10 local blokes came to Kyabram P-12 College to participate in the first ever Kyabram P-12 College Blokes Bake Off.

“The Blokes Bake Off was aimed at showing our support and bringing awareness to the White Ribbon Foundation and bringing an end to violence against women,” College Principal Stuart Bott said.

Mr Bott was inspired to hold the event after hearing about the Campaspe Shire’s similar event held in Echuca recently.

It was a fantastic morning with the blokes showing off their Christmas baking skills. Some of the recipes were Shortbread, Rocky Road, Kris Kringle Slice and Gingerbread Men.

“The response to the competition was fantastic and we really appreciated the support we received from local business and from the Kyabram community,” Mr Bott said.

The winner was Peter Abraham, chief executive of Kyabram District Health Service.

“We are looking forward to holding this event next year and hope there will be a new group of blokes who will show their support for the White Ribbon Foundation,” Mr Bott said.
