Benalla Bulldogs and Giants were defeated by their respective opponents in under-16 matches at the weekend.

On Saturday the Bulldogs came up against fifth-placed Wangaratta Kangaroos and despite an even first quarter were then outscored for the remaining three quarters, the final margin 71 points.
Charlie Bull continued his great season, supported by Lochie Anderson, Blake Booker, Will Stickland, Mitch Antonello and Jobe Parmansche.
On Sunday, Benalla Giants battled hard against Wangaratta Imperials at Benalla Showgrounds.
Trailing by 23 points at half-time, the Giants fought the game out to the finish.
Best players for the Giants were Hobbie Tonks, Will O’Donoghue, Lochie Boyle, Brodie Laird, Colby Mathieson and Harry DeWinnie.
In under-14 matches, the Bulldogs went down to a strong Kangaroos side by 45 points.
Olivia Moll, Miller Gilchrist, Joe Berry, James Cooke, Jobe Parmansche and Shelv Deo were the Doggies best players.
Parmansche kicked three goals, while Berry kicked two.
The Giants came up against a red-hot Wangaratta Imperials team.
The visitors led at every change, kicking nine goals in the second half to win comfortably.
Jacob Decker, Cooper Gracie, Max Woods, Liam Curtis, Charlie DeWinnie and Harry Askew were the Giants best players.
In under-12 matches, Benalla Red was too strong for Wangaratta Imperials, Hamish Willett, Cohen Symes, Xavier Wapling, Mitch Cooney, Bryce Cooney and Cooper Binion the best players.
Benalla White battled hard against their Kangaroo opponents, but were unable to hit the scoreboard, Jayden Chee, Blake Calvert, Kyle Pearce, Monty MacFarlane, Ryan Storer and Connor Breheny all playing great football.
This weekend two local teams, the Bulldogs and Giants, play against each other at Benalla Friendlies Oval on Saturday.
The day will start at 8.50am with the under-12 match between Benalla White and Red.
