Another perfect day greeted Strathmerton as players travelled to Katunga to compete for the Aidy Shannon shield.
Their running game was on early in the match and credit goes to the Katunga boys who never gave up all game — although the Bulldogs did not really help themselves, missing some goals.
Simon Russell and Sammy Lewis gave plenty of drives down the ground.
It was great to see Connor Hargreaves get on a few up forward, it was another great effort boys to retain the Aidy Shannon shield.
Reserves
Coming off a win in round one, the side continued its good form, beating an unsuspecting Katunga.
Leading by example out of the middle was John Russo, who was getting plenty of the ball and using it well.
Trent Collyer showed why he is pushing for senior selection, winning the ball out of the middle to provide a quick delivery into the forward line.
The backline jelled well together, lead by the general Jacob Gillie and a very welcome return by Luke Collyer, providing a clean clearance.
Trent Craven provided the link along the wing with lots of run and a good set of hands.
Once again a big thanks to the thirds boys who help out each week. A well deserved break next week is in order.
Thirds
This game was always going attract a lot of attention — the 2018 grand final rematch.
It was on from the start, the intent was obvious from the first bounce with both sides eager to establish dominance.
Strathmerton was on but was faced with a strong defence and intelligent strategy from Katunga.
The young Dogs had to work extra hard to make their mark and they did, leading at the first break.
It was an all-round effort from all on field with no passengers.
The players continued to drive hard against a determined Katunga line-up to end up victors on the day by 32 points.
A great effort by all, with little left in reserve.
Thanks to the fourths who stepped up for the game with Josh Payne making his presence felt and Tyler Stephens bagging five goals for the game.

Fourths
Strathmerton made the short journey down to close rival Katunga.
The under-14s hit the ground full of enthusiasm, ready to make it two wins in a row.
The first quarter saw the boys put in a great team effort across the ground, with Josh Payne and Will Almond in super form, winning every clearance possible.
The young Bulldogs managed their first goal in the first quarter thanks to Codey Edgar, with a safe mark and kick from the goal square.
The second quarter saw the boys step up the enthusiasm to get the ball into the captain’s hands and him to kick a timely goal.
With lots of good team spirit starting to build, talking across the ground was great to hear.
The backline, especially Ryan Wyatt, Cody Harris-Cunningham, Mitch Easden, Ethan Coghill-Lynam and Harry Spicer, worked well together to stop everything possible.
The third quarter saw a definite arm wrestle in the game, but the side held strong and did not let Katunga into the game.
In the final quarter, the boys continued all the great work from earlier to hold firm and get themselves their second win for the year.
Final score: Strathmerton 2.3 to Katunga 1.0.
