There were a massive 103 PBs broken in Week 8 of competition, which shows the improvement since the beginning of the season. Poppy Armytage was a standout, bettering four of her PBs.
Oli Hall broke a 20 year-old club record in the U9 boys 800m with a time of 2:51.71, the record previously posted by Brenton Loudon in 2003 (2:53.15).
It’s worth noting that second placegetter, Jake Woolston, also eclipsed the record and was only half a second behind Oli in what was a great race to the end.
Oli also set a new club record in the U9 400m with a time of 1:17.90.
Levi Robson broke his own record set only a couple of weeks earlier, posting 2:59.88 in the U8 boys 700m, while Max Woolston set a new benchmark in the U7 boys 500m with a sizzling time of 2:10.95.
Lucy Tubb set a new record in the U8 girls 700m last Friday, with a time of 3:00.67.
Tomorrow the club hosts the Deniliquin Carnival at the Rams’ Hardinge St oval, starting from 1.30pm. Parent helpers are welcome, as too are spectators.
A couple of weeks ago more than 20 club members competed at the Finley carnival which was a very successful day.
Little Athletics is held each Friday at the Hardinge St oval starting from 5pm.
