Finley and District Camera Club members learnt how to operate its new CPR defibrillator at its May 10 meeting.
Shepparton paramedic Bronwyn McKenzie showed members how to use the piece of vital technology.
The club received a Federal Government volunteer grant in May last year, which included the defibrillator and first-aid courses, food handlers’ courses, a marquee and five first-aid kits.
Club member Barry Bennett said the defibrillator was a vitally important piece of equipment for the club.
‘‘We are very active and tend to be out in the open a lot, sometimes in remote areas where hospitals cannot be quickly accessed, so it is reassuring to know this piece of equipment is available in times of emergency,’’ he said.
●The Finley and District Camera Club meets every second Thursday of each month at Barooga Public School library from 7.30pm and has different activities planned each month.
