Two students from Cobram Anglican Grammar School were lucky enough to be on the receiving end of some goodwill from the Cobram Lodge, accepting a cheque of $500 to go towards future schooling materials.
Christyanne Smith and Cane Kernaghan were selected by principal Steve Gale for their outstanding work over the course of the academic year. The money will be split between the pair.
The students’ parents and teachers were there for the presentation, as was worshipful master Brother Archie McQueen, who presented the pupils with the cheque and certificates.
Lodge secretary James Wilson said the initiative was all about giving back to the community.
‘‘It’s hard enough these days with the cost of books and all the other things they need to buy. If we can give them a bit of a kick along, then it’s great,’’ he said.
It is not the first time the lodge has generously donated to the school.
Mr Wilson said the lodge would also be instigating a similar initiative with Cobram Secondary College.
