Making what’s old new again

December 27, 2017

Sandy Anderson was crowned Cobram and District Art Society's artist of the month for November.

Rejuvenating the old and giving it a new lease on life is the philosophy behind Sandy Anderson’s art.

As Cobram and District Artists Society’s artist of the month for November, Sandy said her art incorporated several different styles but was underpinned by a retro them.

‘‘I do a bit of everything but I love taking the old and giving it colour,’’ she said.

Sandy’s passion for adding colour to canvas was fostered in art class at school. She found painting was a great way to express herself.

‘‘I enjoyed looking at old family photos and old cars,’’ she said. ‘‘That inspired me to paint them and add some colour.

‘‘It helps to keep those memories alive and make them more exciting for generations to come.’’

Sandy joined the Cobram and District Artists Society as a social gathering to meet like-minded people.

She said she was proud to be named artist of the month among a talented group of creative people

‘‘We meet regularly for a very casual social gathering,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s a place people can come to paint with others and bond over a shared passion.

‘‘Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill or experience. It’s all very casual and relaxed.’’
