Offering care and support for the community has always been the straightforward goal of Cobram’s Punt Road Kindergarten and Childcare Centre.

The simple philosophy was established in 1977 when the centre was opened by then Social Security Minister Margaret Guilfoyle.

Forty years down the track, the centre’s by the community, for the community philosophy to childcare remains.

Almost 40 families enjoyed face painting, a jumping castle and cake decorating to mark the centre’s four decades of childcare in Cobram.

Leadership team member Bree Anthony said the event was a great way to connect with the community.

‘‘It gave families a chance to interact with one another and get to know the staff,’’ she said.

‘‘The kids had a ball decorating the cake. It was great to see so many smiles.

‘‘Our families had a fun time as well and it was fantastic to see so many in attendance.’’
