The heavens opened above Cobram at the weekend, when more than a month’s rain fell in 24 hours.

A 61.2mm dumping saturated the town on Saturday and forced some alterations to the record books.

More rain fell on Saturday than in the entire months of July or August, making it one of the wettest days in Cobram’s history.

Cobram SES received five calls for assistance for incidents including building damage and a fallen tree.

Shepparton Incident Control Centre’s Brendan Corboy said there was no major flooding that impacted homes or businesses.

‘‘There is plenty of water laying around but we were quite fortunate with how everything worked out,’’ he said.

‘‘We expected a bigger event for the Moira Shire and were pleased there was nothing major.’’
