The the Tigers sent the Blues packing 55-37 in the Murray Netball League clash.
For the first time in the past few weeks the Tigers had a full side, not having to call in reinforcements from the lower grades.
Coach Kate Bird said players coming back from injury and others back in town meant the Tigers had a full ambush.
‘‘It was a good, solid game by everyone and it was good to have Tessa (Bruni) back this week,’’ she said.
‘‘Lili Murphy was great in goal defence and Georgia Kerr shot really well — she only missed about one for the game.
‘‘Keely Bond was really versatile. For her first game in centre she linked really well between our defence and attacking ends.’’
Bird hoped to continue the momentum into this weekend’s game against Tungamah and for a possible finals run.
‘‘I’m looking forward to utilising the next week and a half to get ready for Mulwala,’’ she said.
‘‘We’re working on getting consistency and getting our attacking end to value the ball more. Our defence is getting the turnovers, it’s just our attacking end that needs to make the most of the opportunities.’’
And hopefully that will mean a run at finals.
‘‘We’re looking forward to the run home, it’s the goal of both our A-grade and B-grade sides to be in the top four,’’ Bird said.
‘‘The draw has worked slightly in our favour for that because we’ve missed out on coming up against Rumba again, they’re a very strong side.’’
But the young B-graders may have their work cut out for them, after losing a second game on the trot, however Bird remains confident in the girls.
‘‘It is only their second loss for the season, and having a high-impact player like Melissa Kelly out with an injury meant different positions for the girls,’’ she said.
‘‘It was a good game and Tongala has a strong side.’’
Christine Magill had her work cut out for her against a towering Tongala goaler, but made the most of her opportunities.
‘‘There were too many unforced errors and if we’re hoping for a top four spot we need a win this week. Melissa is still out but we’ve got the depth there to cover it,’’ Bird said.
