A man drove into a channel on the corner of Cottons Rd and the Murray Valley Hwy in Cobram about 11.50am on Thursday.
The man was turning on to Cottons Rd and skidded because of the wet road conditions, knocking over a keep left sign and plunging into the water.
He opened his car door and swam to land, where he was met by police, an ambulance, the CFA and SES minutes later.
The shivering man was given a blanket and breath-tested by police, who found no alcohol in the man’s system.
Despite the accident, the man seemed in high spirits and was seen chuckling with police officers.
Nobody was injured and nothing was damaged apart from the road sign and the man’s water-logged white Holden ute.
