The long-time partnership between Sporties Barooga and the Murray Valley Cricket Association will continue on into the 2017-18 cricket season.

The $5000 sponsorship from the Sporties will assist the MVCA with several programs in the upcoming summer season.

MVCA administrator Anthony Holmes outlined some of the areas where the sponsorship will be used.

‘‘These sponsorship funds will go towards encouraging girls to participate in cricket as well as helping our junior representative and Bendigo Country Week teams and the costs associated with their representation,’’ Holmes said.

‘‘We thank the Sporties for their continued support of our association.’’

Sporties community and sports promotions manager Mick O’Dwyer said local sport was high on the agenda of the Sporties.

‘‘The partnership between the MVCA and the Sporties has been long-term and both organisations have benefited from the union,’’ O’Dwyer said.
