This week is Aged Care Week and in Irvin House at Cobram District Health they are celebrating the incredible difference the staff make to the quality of their resident’s lives.

Bernie Harbrow said, ‘‘If you have a caring heart it is a very rewarding career’’.

This crucial work is ‘‘all about rapport with people,’’ Jill Gaffney said.

‘‘I’ve been working in aged care for 48 years, since I was 14 years old, and I love it just as much as when I started,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s definitely a speciality and a career that can take you anywhere in the world.

‘‘I even ended up working in aged care in Israel.’’

Today (Wednesday) they will be celebrating, residents and carers together, with a pizza lunch — families and friends are invited to share in the fun.
