To join the club prior to October 31 you would be considered a founding member and only need to pay membership/joining fee of $100 and agree to become a member of the ASRF (Australian Street Rod Federation) with a cost of $44 per year.
After October 31 new members would need to attend three club meetings and one committee meeting will apply with cost remaining the same.
Founding member Ken Phillips has a membership form to fill out which can be emailed or mailed to a persons address.
Obviously an interest in hot rod and customs cars is prerequisite but it is not necessary to own a car of this type to join the club be you male or female.
The club have also applied to VicRoads to become an approved club for the club membership scheme, so members can register their cars through the club.
The first event is in association with the Bundalong Tavern where a show and shine starting at 10am will be held with $2000 in prize money.
For just $15 entry per person, which includes a rockabilly band with presentations at 2.30pm, car entry is at no further cost, motor bikes are also welcome.
“I guess rod and customs is just in my blood,” Ken Phillips said.
“After attending the Vic hot rod show in 1980 I was so thrilled with what I saw I immediately wanted one, but dad crushed any thoughts of this, convincing me I needed a house not a hot rod.
“Then in 1997 a friend of mine asked me to go to Bright to see a rod run, after this there was nothing that was going to stop me getting one.
“In 1999 I got my first 1937 ford coupe and joined the Albury Street Rodders, I credit them with giving me the confidence 20 years later to start a club here in Yarrawonga.
“Our club is now incorporated and have our own bank account and committee.
“Great thanks to Andrew Beggs - secretary, Damien McCarthy - vice president, Stuart Bond - treasurer, and Garry Johnson - committee member for their help in getting the club up and running.
“We are looking forward to many years of promoting and partaking in rod and custom activities in the local community.”
