Despite a distinctly chilly start to the day, riders gathered from the around the region to compete in Cobram’s recent trials event.

District commissioner and Cobram & District Pony Club committee member Robyn Bosco said about 300 people gathered for the event.

‘‘It was a great success,’’ Ms Bosco said.

‘‘We had riders from Deniliquin Pony Club, Bamawm Extension Pony Club, Finley Pony Club and other areas, too,’’ she said.

‘‘The day started off at below zero degrees and the frost stayed on the jumps until mid-morning, so it made for icy fingers on the jump builders and repairers.

‘‘Many of the visitors commented on how well our grounds looked.

‘‘They noted the improvements done over the years, such as sand in the dressage arenas, weed control and seating and shading provided.

‘‘We must applaud the ground committee and club working bees for that wonderful effort.’’
