Strathmerton tries hard

A-grade

We had four of our players out but still managed to combine well and feed the ball well into attack.

Our goalers were accurate all game and kept us within one at half-time. However, strong defensive pressure by Deni in the second half gave it the win by eight goals.

Result: Deni 65 d Strathmerton 57

Awards: Jemmah Ryan, Caitlyn Price, Leonie Wren.

B-grade

In no way did this game feel like a loss. All the girls on the court stepped up, came together as a team and played for each other, backing each other up and lifting when they needed to.

Going goal for goal in a close game, we proved we can excel under pressure.

Result: Deni 50 d Strathmerton 49

Awards: $20 — Georgia Ryan; Railway Hotel — Claire Walker; Strathy Cafe — Corinne Lancaster.

C-grade

The girls had a great game and showed heaps of improvement after last week.

Scores were level at three-quarter time, when Deni made some changes that proved too much for us.

It was a lovely contested game and we were back to our style of play on the court.

Result: Deni 46 d Strathmerton 37

Awards: Amy, Ash, Casey.

C-reserve

Strathmerton unfortunately couldn’t compete with one of the top teams. Hopefully we will have a better game next week.

Result: Deni 44 d Strathmerton 23

Awards: Bromac BOC — Steph.

Under-17

It was a pretty chilly start but that didn’t stop the girls from going out there and giving it a red hot go.

Coming out of the third quarter we were down by one goal, so we made a quick change which worked in our favour.

At the final whistle the girls walked away with a win in their hands, proving all of their hard work at training is paying off.

Big thanks to Tea and Zareen for benching for us.

Result: Strathmerton 42 d Deni 36

Awards: Emma Bailey, Rachel Scott, Alyssa Crestani.

Under-15

Going up against a top side, we all knew we were going to have a tough game. The girls all held their heads high, giving their absolute all. They were up against a very polished team and used every intercept or turnover they could to level up the score, however couldn’t quite get there.

It leaves them with more learning to be done at training to come back fighting this week against Mathoura.

Result: Deni 45 d Strathmerton 15

Under-13

It was a good effort from the girls. We still have a lot to work to do but they all kept trying until the very last whistle and that is fantastic. We will regroup at training and work hard to improve on our game.

Result: Deni 38 d Strathmerton 6

Awards: Sarah Brooks, Mackenzie Stephens.
