Bundoora brothers win second Cobram pairs classic
Bundoora brothers Nat and Tony Schiavello won their second Cobram Bowling Club Pairs Classic held last weekend.
They were victorious previously in 2015.
Once again attracting a full field of 40 teams, players came from all over Victoria as well as the Southern Riverina.
The tournament was played in ideal weather conditions with only a light drizzle of rain on the second day.
As usual the compliments were flowing on the excellent condition of the greens and the facilities and hospitality provided by Cobram members.
Despite losing their first game, the Bundoora pair recovered to win the remaining six games.
They defeated teammates Laurence Brooks and Graeme Guy by three points, with district pair Barry Cosgrove (Numurkah Golf) and Rob Sceney (Kyabram) a further one point away.

First: Nat and Tony Schiavello (Bundoora) 6 wins 103 points. Second: Laurence Brooks and Graeme Guy (Bundoora) 6/100. Third: Barry Cosgrove (Numurkah Golf) and Rob Sceney (Kyabram) 6/99. Fourth: Jack Woodhouse and David Cox (Bundoora) 5/88. Fifth: Duane Crow (Henty) and Allan Pantling (North Albury) 5/87.
Sixth: Ted and Michael Witkowski (Heathmont) 5/85. Seventh: Josh Rudd (Shepp Park) and Allan Hirst (North Albury) 5/84. Eighth: Brett Dodd and Peter Yasar (Werribee) 4-1/2/80.
Best game first day: Jessie Spicer and Peter Gonzales (Bundoora). Best game second day: Jarrod and Mark Smith (Cobram).
Entries are now open for the Annual Triples Tournament on August 30 and 31.
There were a good number of players for last Saturday despite the cold weather.
Winners: Mick Reilly, Jeanette Liersch and John Crump. Runners-up: Pat Quinane, Barry Maddox and Neville Walsh.
