St Mary of the Angels Secondary College student and Katamatite local Kaleb Clarke was among 10 outstanding young people from across the region honoured recently with the Bishop Joe Grech Youth Scholarship Award at a special lunch in Bendigo.
The award is named in honour of former Bishop of Sandhurst Joe Grech, and recognises senior students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities and a strong commitment to faith and social justice.
St Mary of the Angels principal Matt Carver said the school was proud of Kaleb and congratulated him wholeheartedly.
‘‘Kaleb is a fantastic student. He is an involved and proactive member of our school community and is certainly a very worthy recipient of the Bishop Joe Grech Youth Scholarship,’’ Mr Carver said.
Catholic Education Sandhurst director Paul Desmond said the scholarship honoured the memory of Bishop Joe.
‘‘The Bishop Joe scholarship enables Catholic Education Sandhurst to continue his legacy to the young people of the Sandhurst diocese and gives recipients the opportunity to flourish as leaders within their schools and in the wider community,’’ he said.
