Entertaining duo

July 05, 2017

Soulful sounds: Alternative country folk duo Miles and Simone will entertain people at Strathmerton on July 14.

Acclaimed duo Miles and Simone promise to entertain and captivate when they perform at the Strathmerton Public Hall next Friday evening.

The alternative country-folk performance will intertwine theatrical vocals and beautiful harmonies with comic snippets, storytelling and jokes, delivered in between songs, in a performance worth venturing out for.

Moira Arts and Culture chair Alex Monk said the opportunity to partner with Regional Arts Victoria and the Strathmerton Plan Steering Committee to bring Miles and Simone to Strathmerton was an exciting one.

‘‘We are thrilled to be able to bring quality performances to some of our smaller towns and look forward to the people of Strathmerton and further afield enjoying a thoroughly entertaining night out with a bit of a difference,’’ Ms Monk said.

‘‘In creating opportunities to celebrate art and culture right here in our community, MAC Inc is pleased to be able to work with community groups and support a wide variety of creative expressions and performances, with Miles and Simone just one of our many upcoming events.

‘‘The pair has a distinctive folk-country sound and maintain an authentic Australian feel both in lyrics and laconic style.’’

The duo has been weaving lonesome ballads and impeccably matched harmonies with subtle arrangements for years now, with this performance a chance to share their latest single She and I.

Simone Page Jones’ wistful and theatrical vocals, alongside Miles O’Neil’s courteous charm, makes for the perfect blend of melancholy and nostalgia and creates their signature sound.

No strangers to the stage, Miles and Simone have charmed audiences at the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Brisbane World Theatre Festival, Darwin Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Falls Festival, Mullum Music Festival and the famous Spiegeltent.

●Miles and Simone will be performing on Friday, July 14 from 8pm to 10pm at the Strathmerton Public Hall. Tickets can be booked online at or are available at the door; $25 for adults, $20 for MAC Inc members and concession and students $15. Supper provided.
