A man has died following an accident in a Cobram backyard on Saturday.

Sergeant Phil Armstong of Cobram police said the 43-year-old man had been working on a car in the backyard of his Gloury Crt home when the vehicle fell and trapped him.

‘‘At this early stage it appears the man was doing some work underneath the car when it was dislodged from the equipment,’’ Sgt Armstrong said.

‘‘It fell onto him and pinned him. He was unable to get free.

‘‘We were called to the scene just after midday when a family member found the man.

‘‘He was deceased when we arrived.’’

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Truck crash death

A man injured in a truck crash on the Riverina Hwy, Berrigan last week has died in hospital.

About 6am on Monday, May 29, a 63-year-old man was driving a truck on the highway, when the vehicle rolled.

The driver was taken to Albury Base Hospital and later airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital where he was placed on life support.

Police have been advised that the man died in hospital on Friday night.

Inquiries into the crash continue and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

School vandalised

Between 6pm on Friday, May 26 and 8am on Monday, May 29, unknown offenders have gained access to the grounds of Sacred Heart Catholic School in Tocumwal and upturned all the garbage bins.

They also pushed over the goal posts in the playground.

Police said while a lot of the damage was easily repairable, it was a senseless act which required extra work to rectify.
