State Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy has highlighted some of the great work happening across the Cobram region.
Speaking in parliament last week, Mr McCurdy called attention to the Cobram Harness Racing Club’s Community Pink Ribbon Day at the Trots.
‘‘I was pleased to attend this charity day and light the candle for cancer sufferers, with all funds raised going to support the McGrath Foundation,’’ he said.
‘‘It was a great afternoon for a very worthy cause. Well done to Bob and Margaret Watson from the organisation. It was an outstanding success.’’
Mr McCurdy also congratulated the region for its efforts in raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
He said the more than $50000 raised by the region was an outstanding effort.
‘‘Many local organisations dedicated themselves to the fundraising effort, including the Cobram Country Fire Authority brigade, which collected almost $9000 in donations on Good Friday and the Yarroweyah CFA brigade, which collected more than $4500 on the day.
‘‘The Kiwanis Club, Grand Central Hotel, Woolworths Cobram and the RACV holiday centre are to be acknowledged and thanked for their efforts, well done.’’
