Clubs meet on the rink

May 12, 2017

Excellent day out: Val Olsen, Ann Armstrong, Dianne Smith and Lyn Sullivan.

Fun day: Bill Slatterie, Linda Lecomte, Ingrid Hocking and Betsy Phillips.

Swing: Phillis Stephens hits the ball.

Through the hoop: Gwen Rhodes lines up a perfect shot.

There was plenty of laughter on the croquet field last week, as members of Cobram Croquet Club and Cobram Barooga Red Hatters combined for a bit of friendly competition.

The croquet club’s Judy Squires said the day came about through people who were members of both clubs, who thought it would be a great opportunity for people to meet others from a different club and learn about the sport of croquet.

She said it was a lovely day out and it was fantastic to see people coming together to have a great time.

‘‘We welcome anyone who would like to join, we play croquet every Thursday at the lawn tennis courts at 9am,’’ she said.

‘‘If anyone would like to come along, we can fix them up with a mallet and they can have a go.’’
