Murray league

It was a tough day on the netball courts for both Cobram and Barooga as they took on strong opponents in the Murray Netball League clashes on Saturday.

Cobram issued a challenge to Tongala, before eventually falling 48-31, while Barooga also struggled against Numurkah, with the Blues taking the win 47-25.

It was a similar scenario in the lower grades, although the Cobram C-grade team went down in a nail-bitingly close game by just one goal and the C-reserve team posted an emphatic win against the Blues, 50-38.

Picola league

Strathmerton’s A-grade side enjoyed a break this week in the Picola north-west competition, as neighbour Yarroweyah has not fielded a team in the top grade.

The Bulldogs’ B-grade side took out a six-goal win against a tough Yarroweyah side, winning 45-39, while the C-grade and C-reserve teams both fell to Yarroweyah teams who were pushing hard to take their first wins of the season.

In the Picola south-east division, Katamatite had a hard slog against strong Dookie teams in all four senior contests, with A-grade going down 52-38 and B-grade only missing out on the win by two goals.
