The start of the new school term yesterday saw acting principal Matt Knight officially take on the role of principal at Cobram Primary School.
Mr Knight has been acting principal at the school for a little over a year and said the official appointment was fantastic.
He took over the reins from Trudi Nagle at the start of last year, after she moved to a school in Melbourne.
He previously spent 2.5 years as deputy principal at Cobram Primary, after moving from his role as principal at Tungamah.
‘‘I’ve been really happy here at Cobram and I’m lucky with the Cobram community and how people are excited about all of the exciting things we have planned,’’ he said.
Mr Knight said the appointment would create certainty at the school and allow them to move forward with their planning and preparation.
He said they planned to continue the great work already under way at the school, especially the partnerships with other schools and organisations.
‘‘We want to work to extend not only learning, but all opportunities to all the kids, we want to start taking it to the next level.’’
The school recently introduced a new program called Every Minute Matters at Cobram, in a bid to boost attendance, which has already seen success.
Mr Knight also paid tribute to the teachers and staff at the school and said it was great to have the support of the school.
‘‘We just a have a fantastic staff here, they’re exceptional. The calibre of work is fantastic.
‘‘We’ve got grand plans here and we’re excited to work with the Cobram school community.’’
